英语专业就业难的原因：
随着改革开放的深入，我国对外语类人才的需求也与年俱增，应该说前景是乐观的。但由于前几年外语专业招生过热，这几年总的就业形势已出现供过于求的局面。其中，师范类外语专业需求量相对较大，师范院校的外语毕业生的就业较为容易，甚至不少非师范外语院校的毕业生也愿去从教。
现在，整个社会发展情况发生了很大的变化，英语已经成为一种工具，越来越多的人能够自如地应用。早期的政府官员或企业的管理人员的英语水平不是很好，需要有专门的翻译来帮助，在一段时间内出现了翻译人才供不应求的现象。随着中国的开放，英语教育的逐渐普及，人们学英语的意识也在提高，学习英语的环境也在改善，很多企业家或管理者已经有这个技能，不再需要一个专门的英语人才来帮助他，这样对纯粹学习英语的人的需求就大大减少。同时，现在非英语专业学生的英语水平的不断提高使英语专业学生面临着许多强劲对手。所以，非师范英语专业的学生将面临着更大的压力。
非师范类外语专业中，需求量最大的是英语、日语、俄语、德语、法语、西班牙语，意大利语的需求也较大。这些语种的毕业生就业较为容易，高层次人才供不应求。而一些小语种的就业状况不太理想，如欧和亚非的一些语种，除韩(朝鲜)语、阿拉伯语基本持平外，就业都较为困难。目前，教育部对这些小语种的招生进行了控制。但小语种专业的学生如果能掌握一门大语种，则非常受欢迎。
专业的师资提供了优异的英语学习环境，像专门的听说培训外教、集视听说于一体的训练设备等，这些东西在他们上课时已是“家常便饭”，而其他专业的同学只是在每周两次的英语课上才能偶尔“享用”;而系统的学习，过硬的听说读写训练更是让他们练就了一身专业的本事，足以令相关的用人单位刮目相看;在出国方面，其他同学很难逾越的语言关对他们而言是轻而易举„ 但是现在，国家加强了英语普及力度，随着2008年奥运会的临近，仅北京地区1，300万市民中，就有60万人在学习英语。同时，教育部宣布，将儿童接受正规英语教育的年龄从12岁降到8岁。随处可见诸如新东方、疯狂英语的英语培训学校，让所有的人都可以自由地、有选择地学习英语;各高校更是为了向国际化进军，大力、全面提高学生的英语水平„„。如今，能讲一口流利的英语，与老外交谈不算什么稀奇事，在校大学生的英语水平逐年看涨，据有关报纸统计，在上海、北京等大城市中，大学生有80%以上
英语水平超过专业要求，65%的本科生报考了托福或gre考试。这股英语狂潮对占有优势的英语专业同学而言不能说是毫无影响。
三、解决方法
解决大学生就业问题不是一朝一夕就能完成的事情，而是一项长期的“系统工程”，需要在政府宏观调控下大学生、市场、高校三者的协调与合作。
首先，政府综合运用各种手段，做好宏观调控，给大学毕业生创造一个比较平等的竞争择业环境。短时间内政府解决大学生就业困境的当务之急应该是通过法律、政策等手段消除那些妨碍大学生就业的制度、政策壁垒，尤其是关于户口和流动问题，这虽然不能从根本上改变当前大学生涌向大城市就业难的现状，但可以有效缓解当前大量学生纷纷积压在大城市求职的状况;大学生在择业时缺乏安全感，常有后顾之忧，担心失业、生病以及其他状况后生活没有保障。由于我国的社会保障体系还不够完善、成熟，特别是城乡二元结构和东西地区发展不平衡使社会保障存在着较大的差异性。故大学生在择业时心有余悸，不得不考虑社会保障这个很实际的问题，从而争相到条件好的大中城市和单位就业。
其次，我们应转变传统就业观念，走向市场。理念是核心价值观，正确的理念带来正确的行动，正确的行动才会有正确的结果。树立正确就业理念是大学生走好人生的第一步。到哪就业，干什么工作都应辩证地、发展地、全面地看待。小企业有重要岗位，偏远地区有最适合发展机遇，最艰苦的地方，最能磨练人的意志，祖国需要的地方也是青年人成长最快的地方;机不可失，早作决断。当前，很多毕业生还在左顾右盼、犹豫不定，有的学生手中有几个选择但迟迟不签约，总希望奇迹在明天出现。岂不知，用人高峰稍纵即逝，在毕业生供给充足、社会需求呈现买方市场的态势下，好的用人单位不可能在一个需求周期内两次或多次到同一个学校去，更不可能苦苦等待你迟来的回复。所以，建议目前有就业意向的同学尽快签约。当然，实在不理想的也不要强人所难;全面撒网，重点捕鱼。还没有找到工作的毕业生，就业信息是最重要的。一方面，要尽快与学校就业部门联系，取得主渠道的帮助和支持;另一方面，要充分利用“地缘、血缘、学缘”关系，发动老乡、亲友、同学、校友找信息。在有目标的情况下，要重点“捕鱼”，在没有目标的条件下，可以有选择地全面“撒网”，甚至“有枣没枣打一竿”。
